Membership is NO LONGER required for nominating, but as with last year, it will be required to vote.
Please note that due to some objections from the fandom to the word 'slash', we have gotten rid of the 'slash' category per say. All stories containing a sexual/romantic 'relationship' no matter the orientation will be listed in the Relationship Based Category. All pairings will be separated just as they were last year. 'Slash' based works are still very welcome in the competition.
The more nominations we receive the more categories we can open in the spring. Please, start sending in those nominations and pass the word along regarding the program to your friends and anyone you feel may be interested in taking part. We need your help so that we can Rock the House!

In light of that, we have opened nominations one month early. The 2010 schedule has changed drastically, nominations will close on January 31, 2010. As with last year, Membership is required for those who wish to nominate and vote. If you are already registered with the site just sign in and start nominating. Please see our updated Rules & Guidelines before nominating as we have several changes this time around.
We hope to have a larger program this time around but, of course, that will all depend on the fans. The more nominations we receive the more categories we can open and the more House, MD works we can bring together.
Please see our site for all of the details. thehouseisrocking.webs.com
Nominate! Nominate! Nominate! So we can get this House Rockin'!

Our Wait Is OVER!!!!

I don't care what his name is so long as he's happy and healthy and Misty comes through it all just fine. I'm so nervous and excited I can't even begin to describe how I feel. I just hope that I have what it takes to be a good parent I know Misty is going to be a fantastic mother. Let's hope she balances me out, hey?
I wanted to get a lot of things off my plate before Elan arrives so I've done a lot of work on the site to get ready for the 2010 program. Please note that our home page has changed. The NEW HOME PAGE is located at thehouseisrocking.webs.com You might want to bookmark it for future visits. There will be two sections of the site once we open in November; Open to the Public and Members Only. The Members Only section will be housed on the 'old' site houseficawards.webs.com so no one will have to rejoin. All nominating and voting will take place there.
The server only allows us 20 pages per site for a total of 40 so the Winners and Nominees Pages have been consolidated and are now located at thehouseisrocking.webs.com/2009archive.h
You might want to go over and take a look at the new Rules & Guidelines. The page is a bit longer than it was but I wanted to make sure that the spirit of the program isn't violated. You'll notice a few new changes in categories for 2010. thehouseisrocking.webs.com/rulesguidelin
Nominations forms are uploaded and almost ready to go whenever we are come November.
I'll do some more work on it over the next little while but once Elan arrives I plan to do nothing but dote on him and my Misty for a month or two. If you don't hear from us between now and when nominations open....we wish everyone a lovely end of summer and a joyous fall.
Hope to see you in November!
Nervously awaiting our son's arrival,
WR
In anticipation of doing this again we've obtained extra webspace located at http://thishouseisrocking.webs.com
We will open for nominations for the 2010 program around the middle to the end of November and nominations will remain open for several months. Please check out the new Rules & Guidelines by going to http://houseficawards.webs.com/prog
We would like to extend to our apologies to anyone who was offended by our calling House/Wilson pieces w/ sex in them 'slash'--no offense was intended whatsoever --yes, we have always realized that such pieces contain a 'relationship'--however, this is a very common practice in other fandoms. BUT, next year, House/Wilson pieces w/ sex in them will come under the heading of "Relationship Based" fiction. We are getting rid of the 'slash' and 'femslash' categories, instead all relationship based pieces will come under the new heading. We hope that pleases those who were upset and may have felt a little slighted. Again, no offense was intended.
If anyone is having the following problem please let me know; stats indicate many people are trying to sign in to the site or otherwise getting an error message of some type. There are no pages left that require membership for viewing. If you've been given a bum link or had any other troubles accessing the site please drop an email to rockingthehouse@rocketmail.com and let me know or use the contact form on the site.
For the last time....if anyone out there never completed the registration process you cannot sign in! If you're trying to sign in and getting an error message send me an email with your name and email address so I can check to see if you finished the process.
That's all until Autumn. Have a happy rest of your summer!
WR
We've been getting a few odd emails from folks letting us know that they were unable to vote in the program.
Yikes!
So far we've been able to determine that this was not a problem on our end.
Woosh....(wipes sweat off brow)
Firstly, people were greatly encouraged to contact us if they had any problems voting so, secondly, we wish they had not waited so long to do so. Email links appeared on the top of every Nominee's page and on the main page of the site so people could readily contact us if they had a problem.
Upon signing up to register with the site one received a confirmation email asking if they really wanted to join. If someone did not click that link inside the email their registration was unable to be completed and this effected their ability to vote. I sent out several reminders to those who had not completed the process and did not hear back from any of them that they were having a problem. I even posted the information about the confirmation email and link on the main page of the site so everyone could see it--it was also in the blog on the site and the members forum which appeared on the site. There was nothing I could do on my end if one didn't make the confirmation.
If you had a problem please leave a note here letting us know what it was so we can look into it further.
Please come over to the site to see our list of winners along with their lovely banners. Misty worked very hard on them and she hopes you enjoy them. We do ask that you save them to your own computer and upload to your own webspace. Please do not link to the image on our site. We would also ask that you be kind enough to link your image back to the main page of our site.
Congratulations to all of our winners! We hope you know that, in our eyes, everyone who helped to make this little program a success is a winner!
Warmest Regards,
WR & Misty
http://houseficawards.webs.
We have only one basic rule when it comes to voting and that is:
You may have only one account and you may vote ONCE in each sub-category.
If you do not want to vote but you would like to enjoy the House, MD fan created works offered here by our outstanding nominees please use the links below the voting links on the main page. From these links you can read all the fic, cruise all the art, and view all of the vids. No registration necessary.
Congratulations and Good Luck to all of our talented nominees! 'Win' or 'Lose' they're all winners in our eyes.
Upon arriving home late this morning, we found these emails and others from members stating they could no longer access the voting pages on the site as they are no longer members! WTF?
We apologize for this inconvenience and want you to know that no one was purposefully deleted by us. I've been on the phone with the host as well as sending numerous emails back and forth about the problem. The host states this 'glitch' may have been caused due to the "unusually high volume of traffic" our site received in "such a short period of time". If this happened to you, please email us and let us know. Also, if this happened to you, please resign up for the site. Things appear to be working properly at the moment. However, we don't know how long that will last as another 200 votes have come in just today! Since we arrived home poor Misty has been frantically going over spreadsheets for the vote tally, she was near tears earlier. A frazzled life-partner is not a good thing to have.
In going over the spreadsheets Misty has noticed several discrepancies and we would like to point them out here;
1-You may vote ONCE per sub-category. If you vote more than that ALL of your votes will be discounted in the final tally.
2-This program does not participate in 'ship' wars or other nonsense things, as such, this program does not condone the practice of VOTING AGAINST one person simply because you don't like them. If you cannot VOTE FOR someone, please don't vote at all as this unsportsmanlike, mean and unfair to all nominees. If you are caught doing this all of your votes will be discounted in the final tally.
Lastly, if the incredibly high volume of traffic keeps up--and we hope it does--we will have to close voting early to avoid being kicked off of this server. We feel it's too late in the process to open on another host but if we do this again next year (and we probably will) we will either have to link two or more free sites together to solve the traffic problem or get space on another server.
If this is happening to you please email us housefanawards@gmail.com and let us know.
Unfortunately, I don't have any control over this problem and there's no information available as to when it might be cleared up but if you drop an email we'll let you know when it's working again. If it goes on too long we'll extend voting another day or two to make up for the inconvenience.
Sorry!
WR
Good luck to all of our nominees! Thank you to all who have supported our little program!
Misty
(Rock the House's silent helper)
We have processed 140 nominations!!! Many thanks to those who came out to show support for this new program!
We would like to announce that we have finished the Non-Voting section and decided to give it a Trial Run.
Please see visit our site to check out our nominees in all categories. This section of the site is permanent and will remain available to the general public from here on out.
During this Trial Run we would like to ask nominees to pay particular attention to their final placement and to get in touch with us if they have any questions or concerns before voting opens. Likewise, should you come across any broken/non-working links or works that are improperly placed within a category we would greatly appreciate it if you would E-Mail Us (link available on the site).
Those wishing to vote will have to register with the site.
Once again, many thanks to all and much wonderful luck to our terrifically talented nominees!
WR</p>
If you haven't received a notice from us and believe that you should have:
1-Check your bulk/junk/spam folders to be sure our notice didn't end up there
2- If it is not there, set your spam filter to receive mail from housefanawards@gmail.com
3-Email us at that address with your name, title of work, probable category for work and link of work
Nominations are still OPEN until (sometime in the early afternoon eastern standard time) July 18, 2009. Visit us at houseficawards.webs.com to nominate. Voting begins August 2, 2009. Those wishing to vote need to register with our site. It's simple and free. Our Privacy Policy is strictly adhered to, we do not sell/rent/loan/give or otherwise share information and/or email addresses with anyone at anytime. Registering with the site is merely to (hopefully) cut down on any cheating when voting rolls around.
Good luck and congratulations to ALL of our nominees! Once again, thank you to those who have shown a little love for this program and, of course, for 'House'. We hope to have a good show for you here in just a few weeks.
WR
We hope the lifting of this requirement helps!
As to Nominee's Email Addresses and why they are required:
The answer is simple; it makes it sooooo much easier on us! We contact every nominee to be sure they 1-want to take part in the program and 2-that any sub-category is correct. Nominee's have final say on both of those. If we have an email address for the nominee at the onset contact can be made right away.
We sift through, categorize and separate all of the wonderful nominations that come in to us. We then visit site, watch each video, look at each piece of art and read each piece of fic. The process gets bogged down if while watching, reading and looking at, we also have to sign-up for sites we have no need for, have to use contact boxes, have to leave open 'comments' on a blog/journal, and/or to have to look all over the site for some way that even remotely looks as though we might be able to make contact! Ahhhhh!
This is why we ask you, the nominator, to supply us with this information.
We know it's a pain for you as well and possibly it makes you uncomfortable. We're sorry about that. However, we think that if you don't know the nominee's email address you can probably get it fairly easily. Just leave the potential nominee a 'comment' in a blog/journal/site or drop a note through a contact box. It is our hope that any potential nominee who wants to participate would be happy to give you an email address where we can easily contact, and be contacted by, them. They might even be flattered to know that you thought of them.
We hope you understand. As to Sub-Categories and how they will break down: (OR.......Why isn't Huddy listed!)
Our program is a bit different from some other House, MD programs....I guess. Anyway, here goes. Only ONE nomination is required for any work to go forward to the voting round. However, THREE nominations are required for a category to OPEN. Nominations are first broken down by Orientation; FemSlash, Gen, Ship, Slash, Threesomes/Kink. From there, if there are enough nominations the breakdown is by pairing--House/Cuddy, Foreman/Thirteen, House/Wilson, House/OC and so on. If we don't get enough nominations for that to happen then we'll go directly to the third step which is to break down by category-Drama, Romance, Suspense etc. Sooo, the more nominations we receive the more categories will be open and available when voting rolls around in August.
How will Nominees be visible by the general public if voting is only for members?
Two sets of pages will be made. One viewable and clickable by the general public so they can check out the wonderful nominations we're receiving. The other will be identical but only viewable by 'members' so that they can vote. We wanted to avoid the 'members' portion of the program but, from prior awards program experience, this isn't always feesible as people have a tendency to stuff the ballot. If you want to VOTE you will need to register if you do not wish to vote then that's not necessary.
I hope that answers some of the questions that are floating around regarding our new program and that people will feel more comfortable to nominate. We don't expect a huge turn out (our last program produced just over 1,000 nominations with only 200 duplicates!) but we are hoping for a nice turn out for our first run around this block. If you have any questions, feel something isn't right, whatever, just drop us an email or use the contact box on the site. We're here to help.
WR
The 1st Annual House Fan Awards are now OPEN for nominations. We had expected this process to take at least another week but are happily proven wrong. To nominate your favorites in the fields of House, MD fan created art (banners, icons, wallpapers, photo manips, hand drawn), fiction (all lengths and types) and videos (all fan created videos) please visit houseficawards.webs.com
Nominations are open the general public, nominees will be announced and made available to the general public but if you want to VOTE you will need to register with this program. It's quick, it's easy, and it's free!
We hope for a good turn out for this program.
